Candle Care
Every Hendle candle is hand-crafted with care, and with the right attention, it will reward you with a clean, even, and beautifully long-lasting burn. Here’s how to get the very best from yours.
✂️ Wick Care = Better Burn
Always trim your wick to ¼ inch (6mm) before each light.
✔️ Prevents high flames & soot
✔️ Keeps your glass clean
✔️ Ensures an even, longer-lasting burn
Use wick trimmers, scissors, or simply pinch the cooled wick — just make sure it’s neat and short.
🕒 First Burn, Most Important
On the very first light, let your candle burn for 2–3 hours, or until the wax melts all the way to the edges.
👉 This prevents tunnelling and sets the “memory burn” for every future light.
⏳ Don’t Overdo It
Limit each burn to no more than 4 hours.
Why? Because longer burns can:
– Overheat the glass
– Cause the wick to mushroom
– Shorten the life of your candle
🌬️ Extinguish With Care
Blow gently or use a snuffer for a clean finish.
⚠️ Never use water — it can splatter wax and damage the jar.
🧊 Storage & Safety
– Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
– Burn only on a stable, heat-resistant surface
– Always keep away from children, pets, and anything flammable
🔥 Knowing When to Stop
When about ½ inch of wax remains, it’s time to retire your candle.
Burning to the very bottom risks overheating or cracking the glass.
